Clique Kits May Blog Share!

Hello and welcome to our May Clique Kits Blog Share, you may have come here from Maryam's gorgeous blog or arrived on your own!  I love our blog shares, and was sad to miss last month due to illness.  This month we're sharing projects we made with our May "Northern Lights" kit featuring Fancy Pants' "Attwell" and Basic Grey's "Urban Luxe" collections.

Here is another look at the lovely kit.

I made two layouts for this share, and amazingly both are about my son Sam (age 9).  The first one is about going to see the new Star Wars movie last December.  He was so excited, and even though this photo is in my December Daily, it needed page in Sam's album too!  I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe, and the Happy Day frame was perfect for a title.    My design is lie a loose grid, once I got my photo and title down I just embellished around with pieces of ephemera until I was happy!

My second layout is about our holiday to Christchurch last July, and this photo was taken at the Orana Wildlife Park.  I just had to use that Fancy Pants corrugated paper as a full background, it was a case of hoard it or use it!  I love the way it plays off the wooden posts and sticks on the bridge.   I fussy cut some leaves out of one of the patterned papers, and really made a feature of the "charming" cut apart card.  I kept my embellishment very simple on this one.

Safe With Daddy (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello hello!  I'm back again and this time it's with this week's reveal over at Lets Get Sketchy.  We had another fabulous sketch from Brenshevia, and it was fun to play and make it my own as I created my page.

I decided to scrap a photo of Brielle and Shaun on our Christchurch holiday last July.  We went to Orana Wildlife Park, where the animal roam free in large paddocks or enclosures (if they're more dangerous).  I snapped this cute pic of them looking for animals, although she was more interested in looking at me!

I used an Older Studio Calico paper (from the Lemon Lush collection) as my background, and Pink Fresh Studio's Felicity collection.  I love how it works with the SC paper.

I loved using the Pink Fresh die cuts and embellishments on my page.

I used some older letter stickers and thickers for my title.  I machine stitched the letter stickers.

I splattered matching watercolours on my background, its one of my favourite techniques.

And here is the sketch.

[Inter]National Scrapbooking Day (Clique Kits)

Hello again, three days in a row I know!!  Last weekend was International Scrapbooking Day, and now that I'm getting caught up with my blog I'm ready to show you what I made for the day.  I was involved in the Scrap Your Heart Out DT challenges for Clique Kits, and a YouTube Hop organised by the wonderful Erica Thompson.

My layout for the CK DT challenge was to scrap about Things That Annoy You.  It was a potentially tricky subject for me, because I could quite easily go into "complaining mode", but instead I focussed on my word for the year "Grateful", and made sure that even though I was complaining, I finished up by talking about the positive.  My layout is about the current illness I've been suffering, and its very journaling heavy - which is why I utilised computer printed journaling.  I used Pink Fresh Studio's "Felicity" collection, which I thought was the perfect juxtaposition because I was journalling about something difficult, but the collection is so pretty and happy.

For my video, I also used the Felicity collection, but this time made a reflective layout about being a mum, using an older photo of Sam and I.  I focussed on hand stitching with minimal embellishment around the photo.

I used all of the colours of vellum letter stickers for my title.

Love this sweet photo of Sam when he was about 3 months old.

I embellished the streamers that were printed on the paper with hand stitching, wood veneer, and the gorgeous puffy sequins (both from the collection).

You can watch my video below.

I didn't get any scrappy time in during the weekend because my parents were visiting, and I still wasn't feeling well, but I did get one layout made on Monday, which was technically still Sunday in the States!  Does that count?

Unshared Projects with the April Kit (Clique Kits DT)

Hello again.  Due to being so unwell during April, I just realised that I never shared two more projects that I made for the Clique Kits Blog with the April "Origins" kit.  This kit featured the Simple Stories "Life in Colour" Collection, and also featured some Bella Blvd transparency and 12x12 alpha stickers.

I made the following layout about myself for Art Studio, and my aim was to use a dark paper and lighten it and add colour.  I was so happy with how it turned out:

I fussy cut out the speech bubble from one of the cut apart cards, and I painted the wood veneer with acrylic paint to make them bright and candy-like!  The acrylic camera is exclusive from Colour Cast Designs and I love it!

The cut file is an exclusive that I cut with my Cameo.  I left it just plain white for maximum impact.

My second unshared project is a page I made about Sam on our trampoline.  I really wanted to create a boy page with this kit, because I had gotten a request on my YouTube Channel.  The triangles are all fussy cut directly from one of the patterned papers.

I machine stitched the triangles for added interest and texture, and because I love the way it looks!

I embellished with chipboard, stickers, enamel dots and the wood veneers, all from the kit.

Almond Latte Love (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello, I'm back again after another absence.  This month I'm back at Lets Get Sketchy after a month off unwell.  I'm feeling a bit better, and its so good to be back because I've really missed Breshevia's awesome sketches.

This is last week's sketch reveal, which is the first reveal for May.  I choose to use an my April Clique Kit "Origins" which featured lots of the lovely Simple Stories Life in Colour collection.  I scrapped a photo of my favourite coffee at my local cafe.  The sketch showed 4 photos, but I decided to go with one large photo.  As you can see, I made the sketch work for me.  So awesome to use that exclusive coffee up clip!

And here is the sketch.
