For Ever (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello again!  I'm back today with a layout for our 5th Monday of March challenge over at Lets Get Sketchy.  This month the challenge is to create a layout based on a mood board and a sketch.  I LOVE mood board challenges as there are so many directions to be inspired.

My layout has a photo of Shaun and I taken in January.  I used a gelato and a stencil to create my background, then layered my papers and embellishments, and finished with some yellow water colour paint.  I was inspired by the Spring colours of yellow, pink and green, and wanted to capture the whimsical nature of the mood board images.  Dear Lizzy Neapolitan was perfect for this layout, and I also added some Lucky Charm and Crate Paper.

I was inspired by Missy Whidden, who creates amazingly beautiful mixed media layouts, and tears her washi tape on the horizontal as well as vertical.

Such an awesome feeling to use up older hoarded and beloved stash!

The Crate Paper cut apart and chipboard worked really well with the Dear Lizzy products, and provided the perfect place for my title.

I fussy cut out the balloons then had trouble placing them, until they found there way here!

Here is the mood board and sketch (by our amazing leader Brenshevia):

Thanks for looking!  This is such a fun challenge so make sure you play along.

Kaiserkraft "All That Glitters" Layouts (Artfull Crafts)

Hello!  I hope you've been out enjoying our gorgeous Autumn weather, and are looking forward to Easter and school holidays.

Today I'm up on the Artfull Crafts Blog sharing two layouts I made with Kaisercrafts new All That Glitters Collection.  This collection is full of sparkle and gold, and is beautiful!

The first layout features the polka dot speciality paper, and collectables.  I also used a border sticker between the paper and the cardstock, and layered two paper banners under the photo.  I let the diecut phrase be the title.  The photo is of Shaun, Sam and Brielle, taken during the summer holidays at Lake Hayes.

Here is a close up.

The second layout is of my eldest daughter when she was a bridesmaid in November last year.  This collection was perfect for this beautiful photo.  I kept the layout design very simple, and just used the one piece of patterned paper.  The die cuts are collectables from the collection.

I made a video for this layout, and at the end of the video you can see some pocket pages I made for other photos of the flower girls. You can watch the video below or on my YouTube channel here.

Here - Using Up Scraps

Hello!  Well I'm making my way through my January Hip Kit, and I think I probably have about 4 layouts to go.

I made this layout with scraps of paper that were off cuts from other pages.  The result is probably my go-to design, which is one photo, layering and ink splatters.  The photo was taken my my husband, and is on the way to Dunedin (3.5 hours away from Queenstown) in a playground in Lawrence. It took us over 7 hours to get there, because of multiple toilet stops, food stops, breastfeeding baby stops, playground stops, and more food and nappy stops!  We made it eventually!

I had pre-prepared the yellow misting on the background cardstock for a video about inking and splatters that I made for Artfull Crafts.  I added extra dark blue splatters.  You can watch that video on my YouTube Channel here.

The XOXO heart is cut out from a Dear Lizzy journalling cut apart sheet.

I coloured the "Here" word with my watercolour paints.

You can watch my process on my channel or below.

Happy (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello hello!  It feels like we might be skipping Autumn here today and heading straight for Winter ...
Any way, at least colder temperatures are more conducive to scrapbooking without sweating!

Today we have a new sketch revealed over at Lets Get Sketchy, this week by the lovely and talented Bev Code.  When I first saw the sketch I knew I wanted to push the boundaries with it, because at first glance it wasn't my style.  But thats the beauty of sketches, you can make them work for your style, and still keep the majority of the sketch.

I decided to scrap a photo of Brielle in her hooded towel after a Daddy Bath!  All three of our kids have loved swinging in the towel after a bath, and Brielle is no exception.  I used my January Hip Kit, and moved the centre strip of paper to the left, and added two more.  The central gold polka dot paper isn't from the kit, and is from Kaisercraft's All that Glitters Collection.  I had fun with my Heidi Swapp gold colour shine on this one too!

And here is the awesome sketch:

Kaisercraft Shine Bright Mini Album & Layout (Artfull Crafts)

Good morning, today I'm up on the Artfull Crafts blog sharing a mini album that I made with the lovely Shine Bright Collection by Kasiercraft.  This collection has a lot of yellow, grey and black patterns, a combination I've always loved.

Azaria started school last July, and in December our school put on their first ever show.  Our kids go to a Christian school which is rapidly growing, and it was so exciting to be able to have enough kids to do a show.  I got to choreograph a dance with 6 of the kids including our daughter.  Azaria had three different roles in the play, so I got lots of photos.  Rather than do a whole lot of 12x12 pages I decided to make a mini album.

I made the entire album with white cardstock, which I machine stitched around the edges and I stitched down the centre to bind it.  I glued the yellow ribbon to the back of the album.

Here is a close up of the cover with the ribbon untied.

Below you can see the stitching and some of the goodies poking out!

Due to the fact that the album contains lots of other children, I've decided not to show all of the close up photos.

I made the most of the journalling cut aparts, and I made the layered banner below.

This paper contains lots of phrases that were begging to be cut apart!  I used the 6x6 sized version, and just layered some paper under it and added the yellow bow for a simple embellished page.

One of Azaria's roles was a chicken in the barn where Jesus was born.   She had the cutest costume and had a felt mask.  She brought the mask home after the show, and I managed to convince here (kind of!) to let me scrapbook it!  I made the following page with scraps that I sewed around the edge.  I've kept my photos of this layout small out of respect for the other children.

I punched the circles out from the 6x6 version of this paper.

Love love that I was able to include the actual mask!  Whilst there are no photos of her wearing it on this page, there are in the mini album.

You can purchase the collection in the shop here.  Thanks for looking!

Two Layouts with Delicious Products!

Good morning!  Well I'm slowly making my way through my January Hip Kit, and it's so lovely as its full of Dear Lizzy Serendipity, Crate Paper Kiss Kiss and Heidi Swapp September Skies! I have two layouts to share today, one of which has a process video.

This layout is the first layout I made with my January Hip Kit.  It's featuring Azaria, and I knew I wanted to fussy cut out some of the Heidi Swapp floral.  I popped up some of the flower edges with dimensionals, and tucked my photo underneath.  I used my water colours to paint the title and to the  corners of the journalling card, and finally added some of the Crate chipboard.  Very little embellishment is needed on this one because the floral is so bold!

This next layout is of my sweet girls, and contains two photos on an interactive flap.

The flap is a perfect place for my journalling.

Here's how it looks with the second photo:

Love the Heidi Swapp ephemera!

Favourite Boy (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello again!  Today it's our first March reveal over at Lets Get Sketchy, which means Spring for most of you and Autumn (one of my favourite months) here at the bottom of the world!

This week we had another awesome sketch by our leader Brenshevia.  I decided to do a boy layout using products from my stash, mostly because Sam asked for another page about him! Yay!  So I used a mix of Crate Paper Boys Rule, and some older Crate products (so old I can't remember the name of the line), and some other random papers.

My layout features a photo I took of Sam late last year at Millbrook Resort.  I kept my layout very true to the sketch, but added a lot of extra embellishments.  I especially loved tucking the stickers amongst my layers, and embellishing the corner triangles.

Usually I don't use words with the wrong spelling, but it wasn't until I edited these photos that I noticed favourite spelt the American way.  I'm over it already, as I love the arrow its on!  I popped up the middle banner "O".

The Capture Everyday tag is left over from an old Paper Bakery kit.  Sam loves this page, especially that little green gaming character!

And here is the sketch:

I also made a process video which will be uploaded to my YouTube Channel by tomorrow.

Thanks for looking, and make sure you play along!
