Sweet (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello from a cold snowy day!  I realised I forgot to share this layout, which was the week 3 sketch reveal for Lets Get Sketchy.  We had another awesome sketch from Brenshevia, and I used it to scrap two photos of Brielle on her bike with her blanket.

I used my January Clique Kit featuring the Fancy Pants "Happy Place" collection.

And here is the sketch:

Make Up (Sizzix)

Hi again!  Finally back, still suffering from pregnancy related nausea, hence the lack of posts...

Today I have a layout that I created with one of my Sizzix Bigz Plus Dies.  I used Emily Atherton's Bunting die and one of my past Clique Kits which featured the Studio Calico Goldie Collection.  I decided to scrap this super cute photo of Brielle when I caught her applying my lipstick and eyeliner to her face!  The only way to capture a photo like this is not to get annoyed, just act normal so you can get a photo before they cry out of guilt!  The fussy cut "makeup" is from a paper in my stash, I'd been saving it for this photo!

After I cut the banners I had stitched them to add to the general chaos of the page.  I wanted this layout messy to reflect the photo!

I kept the embellishment simple on this one because the patterned papers were so full on!

Here is the bunting die, and you can purchase it here

Beautiful (The Cut Shoppe)

Hello!  I know its been a while since I posted on here.  Shaun and I went up to Auckland for our national church conference, and while there I got sick with an upper respiratory infection, and then Brielle got sick.  Add to that pregnancy nausea and there hasn't been much time for updating my blog.

Anyway, I was up on The Cut Shoppe Blog yesterday with my second layout for this month featuring Brielle.  I used the Sassy Circles cut file - which is a fold and cut file and so much fun!  I used my Clique Kit featuring Elle's Studio's "Little Moments" collection, and I focused on using the gorgeous pink ombre paper to fill in the cut file.  I just love how this one turned out!

I also used the Girl Stuff cut file set for my title.

I didn't do much journalling on this one because I've scrapped other photos from the same moment.

Here is the Sassy Circles cut and fold file.

And here is the Girl Stuff cut file set.  So many options for creating with this cut file, I only used the title and can't wait to create more!

Clique Kits July Projects

Hello!  I'm back today with a couple of projects I had up on the Clique Kits Blog that I haven't had a chance to share here yet.  These were made with the July "Raskog" Kit featuring Pink Fresh Studio's "Life Noted" collection.

The first layout is an example of how I document my children's birthdays every year.  I love to interview my kids about their current favourites, take a photo and then scrap a page to accompany their birthday pages.  This page is about Azaria at age 6 (last June).

The large yellow heart is acrylic and gorgeous!  I used it to cover up the smaller heart cut out on the cut file.

I made the layered flowers with my Sizzix die and Big Shot Express (which is amazing!).

My second layout features the Summer title cut file, and I blogged on the CK blog about less being more.  For this layout I wanted my title to be the main embellishment, and I made two shaker pockets with the Spiegelmom Scraps exclusive sequin mix in the kit.

The strip of yellow embossed flowers was made with the Bazzil embossing paper and a Cuttlebug Die and my Big Shot Express.

I had a blast creating with this kit, and still have more to create!

Epic Nerf Wars (The Cut Shoppe)

Hello!  Yes, its two posts in one day today so that I can get a bit more caught up on my blogging.

I was super excited to be up on The Cut Shoppe blog this week sharing my first layout!  I'm so excited about my year ahead on this team!  I decided to scrap Sam and his love for Nerf Guns last summer.  The Boys Rule cut file set was perfect for Sam's favourite word "Epic" and for the awesome arrows!  I used one of my Clique Kits, featuring Pink Paislee's "Memorandum" collection.  I focused on a monochromatic colour scheme for this page.

I love how my title turned out, and I used the negative of the cut file as a stencil to get the placement correct.

I used the arrows with a flair badge layered on top.

I made a process video for this one too.

Here is the cut file; Ashley's cut files are amazing, make sure you go and check them out at her Etsy shop here.

Our New Routine (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello again!  I'm a bit behind on my blog due to feeling unwell again, I've been suffering from all day nausea caused by this pregnancy.

We had a new sketch reveal (and the first for July) over at Lets Get Sketchy, with another fantastic sketch by Brenshevia.  I decided to scrap two photos that I took with my iPhone that aren't that great in quality, but tell the story of Brielle feeding ducks during Summer.  I used my November Clique Kit featuring the "Wildflower" collection by We R Memory Keepers.  This collection (and kit) is just soooo gorgeous.

I had so much fun creating this one, I fussy cut flowers and butterflies, and the sketch enabled me to use up lots of scraps.

Here is the awesome sketch.

I made a process video for this one too.

Make sure you play along for a chance to win!

Getting To Know You Blog Hop (The Cut Shoppe)

Hello! I'm Melissa and welcome to my blog from ENZA GUDOR's blog ! I'm soooooo excited to be on The Cut Shoppe Design Team for this term, its truely a dream come true!

Today I'm sharing a layout that I made some time ago with my January Clique Kit, but forgot to share. I used the You've Been Framed cut file, its one of those designs that I just had to have as soon as I saw it! I used it to scrap several photos of my kids playing in the snow last year. The kit featured the Fancy Pants "Happy Place" collection which was perfect for these winter photos of my three kids from last winter. I purposefully didn't alter my photos, they're dark because the sky hadn't cleared from the storm, I love that they represent my kids wanting to play outside ASAP!
I used the frames to house a mixture of my photos, patterned papers and journalling.

I love how white always pops on kraft cardstock!

And now a bit more about me :)
1. How many times in a week, do you work on something scrapbook related?
I try to work on something everyday, whether it be creating, editing my process videos or writing my blog. Being pregnant and very sick I've been struggling with this lately, and have had lots of ebbs and flows in my scrappy mojo.
2. What’s your favorite subject to scrapbook?
My children! I just love that I have so many memories documented! It gives me so much joy when they look at their scrapbooks, or ask me to recall a memory and I can find the layout that tells the story.
3. What is your favorite color to use on your layouts/projects? What is your least favorite colour?
My favourite colour is still gold, it has been for a long time ever since Maggie Holmes made it popular. My least favourite colour is purple (sorry purple, there seems to be so much dislike for you!).
4. Why do you like using cut files on your layouts/projects?
I'm relatively new to using cut files, as I got my Silhouette Cameo last November after months of saving up. I love cut files because they enable me to be so much more creative, and I love using them as hand stitching templates.
5. What are some of your other favorite hobbies? If you were not a scrapbooker, what other hobby do you think would consume most of your time?
I love baking, and before I was pregnant (due November) I was eating refined sugar free and made a lot of raw deserts - I can't wait to get back to normal doing this again once the baby is born. Living in Queenstown, New Zealand I also love snow boarding in winter and mountain biking in Summer. I also love cross stitching and reading.
6. Tell us 5 things we don’t know about you!
  • I am gluten intolerant, and when I'm not pregnant I'm dairy intolerant. I also feel better not eating refined sugar.
  • I met my husband in a stage show, I was a dancer and he was a singer (cheesy I know, and I still need to scrapbook these photos!)
  • I've sung at many funerals, and I love being able to bless families with the songs they love.
  • I'm a town planning consultant and started my business when my oldest was 3 months old.
  • I had kidney disease when I was 23 and they removed a third of my left kidney. I have a huge scar on my back that I totally forget is there!

I'm giving away a $5 Gift Certificate to The Cut Shoppe Etsy Store, all you need to do is follow my blog and comment below.
Thanks so much for hopping today! Your next stop is WENDY ANTENUCCI.

Adore (Clique Kits)

Hello, hope you're having an awesome weekend!  I was up on the Clique Kits blog on Thursday with another layout made wiht the July Kit Raskog.  For this one I focussed on using the cut and sketch functions of my Silhouette Cameo, and did hours of hand stitching.  I love how it turned out, it made all the stitching worth it.

I rotated the cut file into the position that I wanted, and backed two of the holes with photos, and the other with my journaling.

I colour matched my embellishment with the colours of the stitching.

Love those rubber charms!

And here is the lovely cut file.
