Dance Forever Mini Album (Clique Kits DT)

Hello again!  Today I'm up on the Clique Kits Blog with a mini album I made with the April Kit "Origins".  I used an exclusive digital cut file for my base, and enlarged it to work with my largest photo.  The album is all about Brielle and a dance she did in kitchen one morning when I had worship music on.  So super cute!!

Here is the cut file.  I used the entire cut file for my cover, then I only used the tag shape for my album.

I kept the front cover very simple.  I backed the cut file with a silver cupcake wrapper, and added yellow ribbon from my stash.

The first page had a plain piece of white cardstock to cover the cupcake wrapper.  My journaling tells the entire story of Brielle's dance.

My first photo is the start of the dance in our kitchen.  I embellished with a silver sticker (it looks blue in this photo), an exclusive printable circle, and an enamel heart.

I had embellishment on the backs of each tag.  This one has a sentiment I fussy cut from one of the cut apart sheets.  Simple Stories always have awesome cards.  I added a chipboard butterfly and more enamel.

This is the part of the dance that progressed thorough the kitchen.   This tag is cut on the Bella Blvd acetate from the kit.  I added a label for a small amount of journalling, and a doily from my stash.

The back of the acetate was problematic with all the layers on the front, but I just kept it simple by framing one of the printable squares.

My final page features my favourite photo of Brielle on my favourite paper from the kit.  I love how she finishes her dance with her little foot over the vacuum cleaner cord.

Make sure you head over to the blog to see more photos of how I made the album.

Thanks for looking!  Hope your Easter was blessed!

Scrapping our Dunedin & Christchurch Holiday (Clique Kits DT)

Hello again from a very challenging Easter.  We've had sick kids since last Saturday, and Azaria and I are sick with gastro today.  Last week we spent Wednesday and Thursday in hospital with Sam who had suspected appendicitis, but ended up being gastro.  Brielle had it first.  So no church for our family this easter.

I was up on the Clique Kits blog today with some pocket pages of our holiday to Dunedin and Christchurch last year.  I used the April Clique Kit "Origins" featuring Simple Stories Life in Colour collection.  I'm so sick so this is only going to be a short post, but if you head over to the blog you can see all my pages.

The first page I made was a 6x6 page protector.

This page documents Christchurch.  I kept my embellishing to a minimum on all of my pages, to let the photos tell the story.

On our last day in Christchurch we went to the Orana Wildlife Park, and we loved it.

Thanks for looking!  I hope you're having a blessed Easter.

Clique Kits March Blog Share (Clique Kits DT)

Hello!  Welcome from the lovely and talented Erica's blog!  Its one of my favourite times of the month, which is the Clique Kits Pep Rally blog share!  I love it because we get to see all the gorgeous projects the design team and The Clique have created with the latest kit!

This month we played with the amazing "Goldie" collection by Ashley Goldberg for Studio Calico's Seven Paper, and our "Hell Yeah" kit featured lots of lovely exclusives such a papers (yay!!), ephemera, and flair.

I decided to do something a little bit different with my kit this month.  In case you're wondering why I haven't shared much, its because I took my kit to a weekend crop with my friend. We scrapped Friday night, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening.  I decided to see how many layouts I could make with my kit.  I made a total of 5 layouts, which is a lot for me because I'm very slow at a crop (I get distracted with chatting, snacking, cups of tea and coffee, and looking at other people work and their supplies!).

Firstly I need to explain that my photos are not the best quality, I've had sick kids since Saturday, and just got home from the hospital with my oldest.  We're on standby to take him to the base hospital of our region (2 hours away).  I still wanted to share these though, and as its night time now, I'll retake these photos in the morning.

I was feeling in a mixed media mood, and decided to push myself with my layouts.  The first layout features the beautiful pink polka dot paper, and I did some of the packaging technique with my gelatos, and did a grid style layout with my favourite cut apart card.

For my next three layouts I wanted to use the background cut file in three different ways.  I cut it smaller than the entire 12x12 so I could use it as a stencil.  For my first layout I used texture paste and gold mist.  The layout is about visiting the New Zealand scrapbook shop I used to design for.

I made a pocket behind the layout with the glassine bag, and tucked my second photo into it.

For my second layout I used some gold acrylic paint with the cut file, and the photos are of Azaria when she was about 2, before and during being in timeout!  I just adored the exclusive CK papers in the kit, and this one just had to be used for mixed media!

My third layout with the cut file is about Sam and features a lot of layers!  I actually spilt the teal colour shine on my layout while I was creating it, but I soaked it up with a paper towel and carried on!  For this one I used the actual cut file as a layering piece.

My final layout features an Instagram photo of Azaria's first family picture that she drew.  I still need to find the date of this photo and add it to my layout.  Instead of leaving the white quadrant of the paper plain, I added the stripped piece.  This layout is very simple, and I added the journalling lines with teal embroidery thread.

Dream (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello, hello!  Today is our 3rd week reveal for March over at Lets Get Sketchy. This week we had another awesome sketch by Brenshevia, and it was perfect for the photo of my new ballet shoes.  I started adult ballet classes last October for the first time, and as I'd never done it as a child it was totally new!  I love it so much!  I used my February Clique Kit featuring Maggie Holmes "Shine" collection.

I knew I wanted to use the exclusive Clique Kits card "Do more of what makes you happy" instead of a second photo.  It was a 4x4 card, but I cut around the circle because I wanted it to appear as it was coming out of the typewriter.

It was also a great opportunity to use the wood veneer bow which I'd painted gold for another layout, but never used.

I added a gold doily from my stash, and the little "October" was cut out of the 6x6 paper pad.

And here is the amazing sketch:

I made a process video too, but due to my kids being sick it won't be up until probably tomorrow.  Keep an eye out on my YouTube Channel.

Have a blessed day!

Best Buds (Clique Kits)

Hello again!  Today I have the first layout I made with my March Clique Kit "Hell Yeah".   This kit features the Goldie collection designed by Ashley Goldburg for Seven Paper (Studio Calico).   I decided to start with the background cut file and a photo of Sam and his best friend when they were aged 4.  I layered the cut file over all of the papers, and I loved how it looks over the navy and white paper.

I love that our kit has exclusive die cuts, I selected several boy-appropriate die cuts and layered them around my photo.  The "Buds" part of my title is in a holographic silver metallic sticker, which is a kit add on.

I did my journalling on a large label, and added an exclusive printable with a clear epoxy sticker.

The star paper behind my photo is an exclusive 4x6 card.

You (Claudia Van R Designs)

Hello, I know its been a while.  I'm back today to share a layout I made with Claudia van R's debut digital collection "Amy".  Claudia asked for YouTubers to assist her by making some layouts, and I was so happy to be chosen.

Amy is a beautiful collection which I believe is a signature style for Claudia.  It features pinks and golds, and beautiful elements like butterflies, flowers and arrows.  You can purchase it from Claudia's Etzy shop here.  Claudia is an amazing scrapbooker, and such a lovely person.  Make sure you check out Claudia's YouTube channel and subscribe here.

I chose my favourite piece of paper and printed it off at A4.  Then I built my layout around it.  I added some tissue paper under my photo of Brielle, and then added my favourite embellishments (print and cut on my Silhouette Cameo).

The prize ribbon was perfect for covering a part of the photo that was green (a blow up green alien belonging to Sam!).  The gold thickers are by Dear Lizzy.

I added gold and black Colour Shine splatters, and I popped up several of the ephemera pieces to give dimension to what would otherwise be a full paper layout.

Here is my process video:

Hello Lovely (Sizzix)

Hello! I've had a huge week of work, and tonight I went to a weekend crop at my friend's house (she just happens to live 2 minutes away!).  We are planning on scrapping all day tomorrow and into the evening too.

Today I'm sharing a layout I made for Sizzix using my Big Shot Plus and the Sizzix Thinlits die set Olivia by Prima Marketing, which you can purchase here.  I used my February Clique Kit Hot Mess (featuring Maggie Holmes Shine collection), and as I was getting to the end of the kit I used lots of papers from the 6x6 paper pad and scraps from the main kit.  The photo is of Brielle on our camping holiday last January.

I stared with some mist splatters and sprays, and then I added my photo and the "hello" card.  I built the embellishment around them, first with the flowers and leaves.

I added pieces of chipboard nestled amongst the leaves, and the "hello lovely" chipboard was perfect for my title.

I love how the card looks surrounded by the delicate flowers and leaves.

There are the dies that come in this set:

I also made a process video:

Thank you all who took part voting in the Sizzix Make Off. The winner has now been announced! Find out who won here.  The March Make Off is now live, and you can find the details here, or click on the image on the side of this post.

Thanks so much for looking!  Have a lovely weekend.

Long Haired Lovely (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello!  Its our first reveal for March over at Lets Get Sketchy, and this week we had an amazing sketch by Brenshevia featuring triangles.  I'm a huge fan of triangles, and as I still had paper and embellishments left in my September 2015 Hip Kit (I'm nearly done with it now!), I was keen to make this page.

I'm snapping a photo of Brielle from her 52 week photo shoot, I took so many that day and printed all of my favourites off!  I love this photo because it shows her long hair (well for a one year old anyway!).  I hand cut all of my triangles because I love the imperfect look.

And here is the sketch:

Focusing on Cut Files (Clique Kits)

Hello!  Today I have two layouts to share with you that I made with my February Clique Kit "Hot Mess", featuring Maggie Holme's Shine collection.  I'd had a request from one of my YouTube subscribers to make a boy layout, and the zebra cut file was the perfect opportunity to scrap two photos of Sam.

For my first layout I took the zebra patterned cut file and mirrored it to the right, and then below.  I backed it with some paper from the 6x6 paper pad.  Its very full on, but Sam loves it and I'm happy with how it turned out.

A cluster of embellishments and journalling.

I tucked some ephemera and cut aparts behind my photo.

My second layout features a big version of my favourite cut file this month, the geometric heart.  I snapped an older photo of Azaria 4 years ago at Arrowtown Autumn Festival.

As always I loved all the gold elements in the Shine collection, and I had to get the chipboard add on!

Lots of layers under my photo, and the heart cut file left plain except for machine stitching around the edge.

Here is my process video (its a double because both layouts are in there):

Inspired by Daniel Tiger! (Clique Kits)

Hello again!  Today I'm sharing a layout thats a little different, because I don't have a photo!  I was totally inspired by a quote from Brielle's favourite Net Flix show "Daniel Tiger's Neighbourhood", and I knew I wanted to make a cut file to feature the quote.

My word for this year is "Grateful" and this page is 8x8 and going into my personal word album. I used my January Clique Kit Alegria, which I'm in the slow process of killing!

This embellishment cluster features some of my favourite pieces from the kit.

My page in the Gold 8x8 Project Life  album!  Love that I don't have page protectors and can design off the page!

And here is the gorgeous Daniel Tiger.  He has a very wise mum and dad!!

Here is my video, which provides more explanation and thoughts on the quote, and you may hear me sing!

Yay! (Lets Get Sketchy)

Hello!  Today I'm back with another layout for Lets Get Sketchy, and this week is special because its the 5th Monday in February challenge.  When theres a 5th week we often have a special challenge which is voluntary for Design Team members.

So this week we have a sketch by Brenshevia, and an accompanying mood board.  I was inspired by the colours in the mood board, and thought they worked really well with a photo for my pregnancy album that is very green!  The photo is of the expectant mothers carpark that is set aside at Countdown Supermarket in Invercargill.  I used the Maggie Holmes Style Board collection.

Here is the sketch.

And here is the beautiful mood board.

I hope you come play along!
